According to the New York City medical examiner, Colin Kroll who is the co-founder of HQ Trivia died of an accidental drug overdose of a mixture of several drugs.

According to the New York City medical examiner, Colin Kroll who is the co-founder of HQ Trivia died of an accidental drug overdose of a mixture of several drugs.
In light of a post-mortem that was conducted, it shows that two kinds of fentanyl which are cocaine and heroin was found in his system.
Fentanyl is an opioid which is over 80 times much stronger than morphine is much more deadly if a mistake is done in its consumption.

Police did find Mr. Kroll face down in his Manhattan flat in December and police report to have noted what appeared to be cocaine and heroin in the flat. This was after a call to check on him by his girlfriend.

According to his former fiancé Maggie Neuwald, Mr. Kroll had a hard struggle with the pace of the technology industry. “It’s not like anyone gives you a manual of how to deal with success. That probably, unfortunately, got the best of him, although I had hoped he would be able to fight those demons.” She said.

Last year, deaths due to an overdose of synthetic opioid had risen to 45% according to the Centers for Disease Control.
